
Biography
Dr. Grand has a dual appointment as clinical professor of neurosurgery and anatomy at the State University of New York at Buffalo, School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences. He attended Medical School at Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Dr. Grand completed his residency at the State University of New York at Buffalo and is board certified in neurosurgery. He served in the United States Air Force as a neurosurgeon from 1972 to 1974.
His research interest in cerebrovascular anatomy dates back to the 1970s with the advent of micro-neurosurgery at that time and his interest in cerebrovascular surgery. Since 1992, he has been the director of the surgical anatomy laboratory in the department of neurosurgery where many of the more recent dissections of variations of cerebrovascular anatomy have been performed.
Dr. Grand’s other activities have included developing the adult brain endoscopy program in the department of neurosurgery over the last 20 years. The neurosurgical anatomy laboratory under his direction has hosted brain endoscopy instructional courses attended by neurosurgeons from throughout the United States and foreign lands.
