Biography

Dr. Günter Germann is the founder and medical director of ETHIANUM Clinic Heidelberg, which is the partner clinic for Plastic, Hand, & Reconstructive Surgery at the University of Heidelberg. After Dr. Germann attended medical School in Düsseldorf and Mainz, he completed internships in General Surgery, Internal Medicine, and Orthopedic Surgery, before he was licensed to practice medicine in 1979. He completed his residency in General Surgery at University Hospital of Goethe University Frankfurt as well as a fellowship in Burns/Plastic Surgery at SIU (Southern Illinois University, with Dr. Zook, Dr. Eriksson, and Dr. Russell). He was board certified in General Surgery before he completed a residency in Plastic Surgery at Cologne University and became board certified in Plastic Surgery. He completed a PhD and a CAQ in Hand Surgery.

Dr. Germann has written more than 350 scientific publications and authored/co-authored two textbooks. He has been an instructor of courses at Mayo Clinic and Duke University, in addition to many visiting professorships. He is past president of the German Society for Plastic Surgery, a past council member of the German Society for Surgery, and is a reviewed for Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery.
