Biography

Robert Spetzler, MD, is a world-renowned neurosurgeon who specializes in cerebrovascular disease and skull base tumors. He has been involved in pioneering the technique of hypothermia and cardiac arrest for the treatment of difficult brain lesions. He has been honored many times by professional societies, including the American College of Surgeons and the Congress of Neurological Surgeons. In 1994 Dr. Spetzler was chosen to be the Honored Guest of Congress of Neurological Surgeons. At age 49, he was the youngest recipient of this prestigious honor.

Dr. Spetzler was born in Stierhoefstetten, Germany, and moved to the United States at the age of 11. He received his B.S. from Knox College in Galesburg, Illinois, and his doctorate of medicine from Northwestern Medical School in Chicago. His postgraduate training was completed at Wesley Memorial Hospital–Northwestern in Chicago. He completed a residency in neurosurgery at the University of California – San Francisco. He received board certification in September 1979 from the American Board of Neurological Surgery.

In 1983 Dr. Spetzler left his position as associate professor of neurosurgery at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine in Cleveland to assume a position as chair of the Department of Neurosurgery at Barrow Neurological Institute at Dignity Health St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center in Phoenix. He was director of Barrow from 1986 to 2017 and currently serves as Emeritus Chair of Barrow.

Biography

Rod J. Rohrich, MD is the Distinguished Teaching Professor and Founding Chair of the Department of Plastic Surgery at UT Southwestern, Dallas. He has been selected by his peers as one of America's best doctors for over 15 years, and twice has received one of his profession's highest honors, the Plastic Surgery Educational Foundation Distinguished Service Award, which recognizes his contributions to education in plastic surgery.


He is an internationally known surgeon and innovative leader/educator in plastic surgery. His interests span the entire spectrum of plastic surgery, from cranio- maxillofacial surgery to aesthetic surgery, and have resulted in over 800 peer reviewed scientific articles.


Dr Rohrich has served as one of the Founding members and President of The Rhinoplasty Society. He has been the President of the ASPS (American Society of Plastic Surgeons), which is the largest society of Board Certified Plastic Surgeons in the world. He is the President of WAME (World Association of Medical Editors) and has been President or led most of the prestigious Plastic Surgery or Graduate Medical Education Organizations in the USA.


He has been a Visiting Professor to over 150 organizations/societies and chaired over 100 plastic surgery educational symposia worldwide. He is the Chair of the Dallas Rhinoplasty Symposium which is one of the leading global educational meetings teaching Rhinoplasty to over 10,000 surgeons over the past 25 years.


Dr. Rohrich received his medical degree with high honors from Baylor University College of Medicine; completed a plastic surgery residency at University of Michigan Medical Center, and did sub-specialty training in pediatric plastic surgery at the Radcliffe Infirmary/ Oxford University and hand/micro-vascular surgery at the Massachusetts General Hospital/Harvard Medical School.


Dr. Rohrich has repeatedly received the top prestigious national research, teaching and distinguished service awards career from his professional societies both in the USA and globally. He is Editor-in-Chief of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, the most prestigious peer reviewed medical journal in the world for plastic surgeons. He is also the author of Dallas Rhinoplasty 3rd Edition (with Jamil Ahmad, Bill Adams and Jack Gunter), Secondary Rhinoplasty by the Global Masters (with Jamil Ahamd) and Facial Topography (with Joel Pessa).

Biography

Sharon Gustowski, DO, MPH is a 2001 graduate of the University of North Texas Health Science Center- Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine (UNTHSC-TCOM) and the School of Public Health. She completed a traditional rotating internship at Bay Area Corpus Christi Medical Center and residency training at the UNTHSC-TCOM in Neuromusculoskeletal Medicine and Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine, where Jerry Dickey, D.O., F.A.A.O. was the program director.


She began a career in an academic medicine immediately after residency as a founding faculty member of the Touro University Nevada College of Osteopathic Medicine. She returned to Texas after seven years in Nevada, serving as Course Director for the Year 2 Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine Courses at UNTHSC-TCOM.


In 2014, Dr. Gustowski returned to her hometown of San Antonio, Texas, to serve as the Chair of the Osteopathic Principles, Practices and Integration Department at the University of the Incarnate Word School of Osteopathic Medicine. Her osteopathic teaching focus is to preserve osteopathic history and to encourage more integration of OMT into clinical practice. She is also active in state and national osteopathic organizations.


She has a particular interest in providing osteopathic care to children and their families.

Biography

Anne M. Gilroy is an Associate Professor of Clinical Anatomy in the Division of Translational Anatomy within the Department of Radiology at the University of Massachusetts Medical School (UMMS) in Worcester, Massachusetts. She joined the UMMS faculty in 1989 after earning her master’s degree in biology from San Jose State University in California in 1980.


As a medical educator she coordinates anatomy programs for medical students and residents at all levels, and co-directs the anatomy and embryology components of the integrated first year curriculum. She also serves as Director of Anatomy and Imaging Resources for the medical school’s Inter-professional Center for Experiential Learning and Simulation (iCELS). In that role she focuses on curriculum development and the integration of innovative teaching methodologies using virtual anatomy and 3D imaging. Anne M. Gilroy is an active member of the American Association of Clinical Anatomists and the American Association of Anatomists.

Dr. Christine Hamori, an Ivy-League trained, board-certified plastic surgeon, specializes in facial and body contouring surgery.

Biography

Robin Kamal, M.D. is an Assistant Professor at Stanford University. He received his B.A. and M.D. degrees from the University of Missouri-Kansas City, completed orthopedic surgery residency at Brown University, orthopaedic trauma fellowship at Brown University, and hand surgery fellowship at Duke University.


He has authored papers on orthopaedic education and the upper extremity, and has presented his research nationally and internationally.

After completing his Bachelor of Arts degree at Wabash College (Crawfordsville, Indiana) in 1978, Dr Casiano received his medical degree from the Indiana University School of Medicine (Indianapolis, Indiana) in 1982. He then completed his Otolaryngology residency at the University Of Miami School Of Medicine in 1988, after which he joined the faculty at the University Of Miami Department Of Otolaryngology. During his years of service in the department, he has earned the highest rank of tenured Professor and Vice Chairman, where he has mentored over 80 otolaryngology residents and 13 rhinology and endoscopic skull base fellows to date, all of which are currently serving in some capacity as a rhinologist and faculty member at various academic medical centers throughout the country.

Dr Casiano is an internationally recognized expert in the field of rhinology and endoscopic skull base surgery. From 2014-2015 he had the honor to serve as President of the American Rhinologic Society, one of the most prestigious medical societies in the world.  He continues to direct one of the most world-renowned training programs in the country, and is frequently invited as a guest speaker to numerous national and international meetings. His clinical and research interests have resulted in over 160 peer reviewed research publications, book chapters, or textbooks in the area of rhinology and endoscopic skull base surgery.

Prof M Necmettin Pamir trained in neurosurgery at Hacettepe University and earned his Professors degree at Marmara University. He is the founder of Marmara University- and Acibadem University Neurosurgery Departments as well as the Marmara University Institute of Neurological Sciences.


He also served as the founding president of Acibadem University and as the president of the Turkish Neurosurgical Society. He is a member of numerous international Neurosurgical Academies, Federations and Societies. He is a very active academic neurosurgeon with over 200 peer reviewed publications, 3 books and over 3700 citations.

Dr. Todd J. Albert is the Surgeon-In-Chief and Medical Director at Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City. His also Professor and Chairman of the Department of Orthopaedics at Weill Cornell Medical School.


He graduated magna cum laude from Amherst College, received his doctor of medicine degree from the University of Virginia School of Medicine, completed a residency in orthopaedic surgery at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital and performed a fellowship in spinal surgery at the Minnesota Spine Center.


Dr. Albert serves on the boards of several scholarly journals. He is Past President of The Cervical Spine Research Society ,Past Chair of The International Meeting of Advanced Spinal Techniques (IMAST) for the Scoliosis Research Society, and past Chair of Development for the American Orthopaedic Association. He is President Elect of the Scoliosis Research Society.


Dr. Albert has published over 300 scientific articles, authored over 70 book chapters, presented his research both nationally and internationally, and served as chairman at numerous courses. He has published seven textbooks on Spinal Surgery.

Biography

David Goldenberg, MD, is a Head and Neck Surgical Oncologist and a tenured professor of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at Penn State University’s College of Medicine, as well as the Chair of  Deprtment of  Otolaryngology—Head and Neck Surgery at Penn State Hershey Medical Center and Associate Director of Surgery at Penn State Cancer Institute. He was educated at Ben Gurion University in Israel. After his residency in Otolaryngology—Head and Neck Surgery at Rambam Medical Center in Haifa, Israel, he completed a three year fellowship in Head and Neck Surgery and Oncology at Johns Hopkins Hospital.  Dr. Goldenberg has received national recognition, including Newsweek’s Top Cancer Doctors in the US, US News and World Report’s Top Doctors—Top 1% of Physicians in the nation, Best Doctors in America, and America’s Top Doctors for Cancer. Dr. Goldenberg combines a busy surgical practice with teaching and research. His surgical expertise lies in head and neck cancers, thyroid cancers and disease, and transoral robotic surgery for head and neck cancer.  

Dr. Goldenberg’s current clinical research focuses on outcomes and the etiology of the rise in the incidence of thyroid cancer. His basic research lab and translational research focus on thyroid cancer genomics in familial non-medullary thyroid cancer and radiation-induced thyroid cancer. He is an accomplished and prolific author of more than 230 articles, 35 book chapters, and seven books. Ray Clarke is a Consultant Paediatric Otolaryngologist at the Royal Liverpool Children’s Hospital, Alder Hey Liverpool. He is a Senior Lecturer and the Associate Dean at the University of Liverpool, as well as the past President of the British Association for Paediatric Otolaryngology and President of the North of England Otolaryngology Society.

Dr. Clarke is one of the most respected teachers of Paediatric ENT in the UK, a faculty member of several courses, and the 2004 recipient of the Silver Scalpel Award for Teaching Excellence in Surgery.

Dr. Stefan Sell is the Medical Director and Department Head of the Joint Center Black Forest in Neuenbürg Germany.
